Just for smiles.....

Hope this put one on your face!!!!!!

Snow, Snow come only on the weekend PLEASE!!!

This weekend was the kick-off weekend for the Christmas Holiday.
We took in the festivities of the Courthouse tree lighting followed by some cookies and a visit with Santa Claus.
Rhett, Sidney Shea, Bennett and Weston were all good boys and girls and hopefully after they visited with the "big guy" he'll bring them what they want...

The Amburgey's

Weston, all bundled!

Once we got inside, it's shed the coats and wait in line to see....SANTA!!!!
After our evening out, what did we wake to??? SNOW!!!!! This next picture is for our friends in Texas ( we missed you and if you were here we would have been playing together...OUTSIDE!)

This is how REAL cowboys play.

I wanted him to put on his other hat but he insisted on his cowboy hat!
The snow was perfect for building a snowman and even Daddy got in on the action.

What do you think...Frosty wouldn't be able to hold a light to this snowman...literally!
(buttons for eyes, sand shovel for a nose and broccoli for buttons)

This is what Sidney Shea did while we...........

Made snow angels
(Eli)
Built HUGE snowballs
(Avery)

Had snowball fights!!!!

and built snow forts to hide behind
(Ellie)

It was a great SNOW DAY. The best part about it was.....it was on a WEEKEND!!

After being outside for 2 hours we came in and warmed up, then off we went to see Santa again...only this time, no one was tired, we didn't have to wait and everyone sat on his lap and told them what they wanted.

Rhett's list consists of the following: a guitar, and then all kinds of calls-duck, moose, elk, big buck, and coyote callers!

Sidney Shea's list: a new pink pony...this is according to Rhett. A few months ago, we did laundry and washed her pink pony, I sat it outside to dry and Kasey (the cat) cuddled up all around it and I made her get off, so she meowed and meowed. Rhett asked me what she was doing and I told him I guess she was crying because she wanted Sidney Shea's pink pony. Well, when it came time to talk about Santa and gifts we said Sidney Shea wanted diapers and Rhett informed us that she didn't want that she wanted a new pink pony. When I asked him why he said "So Kasey can have her old one!"

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE AMBURGEY'S

Thanksgiving

There are so many things that we are blessed with and have, to be Thankful for. The Lord has been good to our family and provided us with good health, a wonderful family, and great friends.

This is the before picture of our Thanksgiving Feast...

Rob and I were in charge of the turkey again this year and I think it was better than last years....
Perfect!

James Benton stopped in for a surprise visit and ended up not being out of town and had Thanksgiving dinner with us.
We were running late so the dinner started without us and without the turkey. Kasey (the cat) had to stay in her carrier all through dinner and my camera stayed in the car....sorry no pictures from the dinner with my family at Stephanie's but we sure had a good time!

We ate there at 12:00 (12:40 when we arrived) Then at 5:00 we ate again! Rob's family had dinner at his Aunt's home. We were stuffed!

Super Hero Party

Cole Boy Turned 4

and he had a super hero party...thanks to Turner, Rhett went as Spider Man (aka "Fider Man")
This is the dress-rehearsal...he put his costume on at 12:00 and the party didn't start until 4.

All the Super Heros at the party...the birthday boy was Bat Man (with the blue head)

No party would be complete without CAPTAIN AMERICA....I won't give away his identity

Sidney Shea enjoyed the fun and the cake..."Can't wait until I'm 1...bring on the cake"

Wouldn't you feel safe knowing these two were going to rescue you???

COWBOY UP!!! Rodeo Time

We took a nice break from the norm, had a sitter for Sidney Shea and Rob and I took Rhett to the NAILE (North American International Livestock Expo) in Louisville for the Rodeo! Of course, our #1 priority was to find Kasey in the barns...sheep barns....Kasey the girl, not the cat! Just look at how much fun we had!! I wish I could have captured the sparkle in Rhett's eyes during the night. It was a BLAST.
Before we got too far, Rhett had to have a ride!

Can you believe your eyes?? It's Kasey!! yes, the REAL Kasey!!! (whom our cat is named after) Rhett was sooooooooooooo excited (I think this is the real highlight of his night)** notice the hat change. My dad had a real problem with Rhett wearing a summer hat in the winter so now, Rhett has a felt hat for the winter months.**

We toured the lamb barn and found this HUGE Ram!
The start of the Rodeo is always with the flag ceremony...this is the lone cowboy from KY coming in with the state flag. Rhett also sang along with the National Anthem it excited him to hear the song...thank goodness he didn't yell out "play ball" when it was over!
Event 1: Bareback riding
Event 2: Team Roping

Event 3: Bulldoggin' (aka: steer wrestling)

Event 4: Saddle Bronc Riding

Then we had a nice little break... intermission! A lasso king...we just kept telling Rhett that he couldn't try any of these tricks with his lasso at home!

Event 5: Barrel racing

And now, for the main event...Bull Riding!!!

This was very exciting! One bull really wanted to get the Rodeo Clown (whom is inside the barrel) so the Bull Fighter got to "play" with his pal....

We had a GREAT evening and can't wait for next years NAILE Rodeo!! Sidney Shea will be older and can join in on the fun...who knows after everyone sees how much fun we've had, some of you may want to join us next year!!

Wisdom from the neighbor kids...

This is a conversation that Rob and I heard from some neighborhood kids today....

kid A: "we know someone who has a baby and they are only 16"

kid B: "Yeah, 16. That's the legal age in Kentucky to have a baby. Did you know though that in California the law is 21. You have to be 21 before you can have a baby."

Trick or Treat smell my feet......

It's become a Halloween tradition to go to the Smorstad's house for a good hot supper then out on the streets to see how many treats we can get! This year we had 2 more kiddos with us (Sidney Shea and Tula) and the big kids (Rhett and Ivy) were pros this year. Going up and knocking on doors by themselves, saying Trick or Treat and then with a few reminders, saying Thank You. Here's a glimp of our night!

THE AMBURGEY'S

Fairy Ivy, Kitty Sidney Shea and Shark Rhett...I have a feeling they will be loosing the wagon next year to Sidney Shea and Tula...

They are such good friends!

We then went to Mr. Charlie and Ms. Judy's house on Sunday night...they weren't giving out candy but...Kittens!!!!

We didn't bring one home!!!!

for a special treat I made a Frankenstein cheese ball... Rob said it looked like Mr. Potato Head, I disagree and hope to improve his looks next year!

This was an EXTRA special treat. We went to Lexington and surprised Gene and Libbie Jones with some Trick or Treaters! It is always great to see them!!!
(for those of you who don't know it, Gene was my neighbor when I was a little girl and I took my first steps on his porch. Needless to say we go WAAAAY back!)
