COWBOY UP!!! Rodeo Time
We took a nice break from the norm, had a sitter for Sidney Shea and Rob and I took Rhett to the NAILE (North American International Livestock Expo) in Louisville for the Rodeo! Of course, our #1 priority was to find Kasey in the barns...sheep barns....Kasey the girl, not the cat! Just look at how much fun we had!! I wish I could have captured the sparkle in Rhett's eyes during the night. It was a BLAST.
Can you believe your eyes?? It's Kasey!! yes, the REAL Kasey!!! (whom our cat is named after) Rhett was sooooooooooooo excited (I think this is the real highlight of his night)** notice the hat change. My dad had a real problem with Rhett wearing a summer hat in the winter so now, Rhett has a felt hat for the winter months.**
We toured the lamb barn and found this HUGE Ram!
The start of the Rodeo is always with the flag ceremony...this is the lone cowboy from KY coming in with the state flag. Rhett also sang along with the National Anthem it excited him to hear the song...thank goodness he didn't yell out "play ball" when it was over!
Event 1: Bareback riding
Event 2: Team Roping
Event 4: Saddle Bronc Riding
Then we had a nice little break... intermission! A lasso king...we just kept telling Rhett that he couldn't try any of these tricks with his lasso at home!
This was very exciting! One bull really wanted to get the Rodeo Clown (whom is inside the barrel) so the Bull Fighter got to "play" with his pal....
Before we got too far, Rhett had to have a ride!

Wisdom from the neighbor kids...
This is a conversation that Rob and I heard from some neighborhood kids today....
kid A: "we know someone who has a baby and they are only 16"
kid B: "Yeah, 16. That's the legal age in Kentucky to have a baby. Did you know though that in California the law is 21. You have to be 21 before you can have a baby."

Trick or Treat smell my feet......
It's become a Halloween tradition to go to the Smorstad's house for a good hot supper then out on the streets to see how many treats we can get! This year we had 2 more kiddos with us (Sidney Shea and Tula) and the big kids (Rhett and Ivy) were pros this year. Going up and knocking on doors by themselves, saying Trick or Treat and then with a few reminders, saying Thank You. Here's a glimp of our night!
Fairy Ivy, Kitty Sidney Shea and Shark Rhett...I have a feeling they will be loosing the wagon next year to Sidney Shea and Tula...
We then went to Mr. Charlie and Ms. Judy's house on Sunday night...they weren't giving out candy but...Kittens!!!!
We didn't bring one home!!!!
for a special treat I made a Frankenstein cheese ball... Rob said it looked like Mr. Potato Head, I disagree and hope to improve his looks next year!
This was an EXTRA special treat. We went to Lexington and surprised Gene and Libbie Jones with some Trick or Treaters! It is always great to see them!!!
(for those of you who don't know it, Gene was my neighbor when I was a little girl and I took my first steps on his porch. Needless to say we go WAAAAY back!)

Fall break
What a special treat we had during Fall Break...Jill, Joseph, Angie, Gracie and Grant came to visit and what a great time we had!
(Waiting for another turn on the horse...they look like they could be kin)
During the break we also went to the World Equestrian Games (WEG) the horse park was sooo beautiful, here is just a few pictures to show you!
Rhett also rode Soncho all by himself for HOURS!!!! Nanny saddled up Pepper and she ponied Rhett along and they rode all over the farm!!!!
I also took the kids to see Rob's Mammaw and I picked Mommoo up and took her with us, what a great opportunity for a photo shoot with BOTH great-grandma's
Prior to going to see Mammaw, we spent the afternoon at the pumpkin patch. It's hard to get two children to look at the camera and smile
HUNTER GUY Rhett
The many faces of Rhett. Each day he changes his clothes at least 3-4 times and his identity has become what he wears. Sometimes he is a football player (wearing Carson Palmer #9 jersey), he's a cowboy (wranglers, hat, belt, TX shirt and boots), basketball player (UK jersey and shorts) but the one that has lasted the longest...HUNTER GUY! So here's a few pics to show his true identity!
Wanna know what's been going on???
